Jan is an Employment Services professional with more than 12 years of experience supporting diverse and disadvantaged communities across the employment, health, education, and community services sectors. Beginning as a client of ORS before progressing into an Indigenous Employment Specialist role, Jan brings lived experience, cultural capability, and practical insight into supporting individuals facing significant barriers to employment and social participation. Jan has specialised experience working with First Nations peoples, ex-offenders, people living with disability, and individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Their strengths include vocational support, client engagement, case management, employment pathway development, stakeholder engagement, and culturally safe practice. Prior to returning to ORS, Jan worked as a Diversity and Inclusion Account Manager, managing major employer accounts with a focus on Indigenous employment and ex-offender workforce participation. This role strengthened their ability to build strong employer relationships, develop inclusive recruitment strategies, and create sustainable employment opportunities for underrepresented groups. Jan's qualifications include a Certificate IV in Employment Services, an Associate Diploma in Health Science (Nursing), a Certificate III in Education Support (Teacher’s Assistant), and a Certificate II in Business Administration. Jan's career background is diverse and hands-on, spanning psychiatric and orthopaedic nursing, special needs education support, family support services, Indigenous-specific VTEC employment programs, home and community care, hospitality, labouring, and the shearing industry. This breadth of experience has developed their adaptability, resilience, communication skills, and ability to connect effectively with people from all walks of life.
