About Me
Paul is a registered Psychologist with over 20 years’ experience in health services management, leadership, and clinical practice. As a manager, Paul is values-driven and is ethically, strategically and operationally strong. Paul has significant experience leading multidisciplinary teams across a diverse range of settings including clinical practice in youth and adult mental health, social and community development, and education and training. Paul treats people with dignity and respect, sees the value that every person offers, expects people will do their best, and encourages and supports people to that end. Paul aims to foster a safe and supportive team environment, encouraging and nurturing a sense of self responsibility and ownership over their work activities and personal behaviours, and encouraging honest and transparent relationships and communication. Paul holds a Master of Counselling Psychology and as a clinician is person-centred, and strengths based. Core to his clinical approach is the development of a strong therapeutic working alliance with clients. From that foundation, Paul provides clients with a safe and supportive environment from which they are able to explore and better understand themselves and their situation, and to makes changes in their lives as they see fit. Paul utilises a range of therapeutic intervention techniques as relevant to a person's presenting concerns and interpersonal characteristics including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Interpersonal Process therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused strategies, and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. Early in his psychology career Paul has co-authored an article published in a peer reviewed journal, has presented at national and international conferences, and has a strong background in research design and analysis.
