Yanyu is an experienced practitioner with a strong academic and practical background in psychology, having worked across a range of clinical, educational, and research settings, including hospitals, universities, government, research institutes, and not-for-profit sectors. She is passionate about applying person-centred, evidence-informed approaches within a scientist-practitioner framework. At ORS, Yanyu is a Senior Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner and Report Reviewer. She specialises in functional behaviour assessment and the development of trauma-informed, individualised behaviour support strategies. Yanyu has a particular interest in forensic-related presentations and supporting individuals with complex neurodevelopmental and psychological conditions, including Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, and emerging or co-occurring personality vulnerabilities. Her practice is guided by values of dignity, autonomy, and inclusive support, strongly emphasising improving quality of life and reducing restrictive practices for people with high behavioural support needs. Yanyu is undertaking a PhD in Psychology, investigating cognitive capacity, prospective memory, and multitasking. Her broader research experience spans language development, antisocial and criminal behaviours in children, autism spectrum conditions, psychosis, mindfulness, and disaster mental health. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and reflects a commitment to integrating current research into practical, meaningful support. Yanyu is dedicated to delivering high-quality services that foster positive change, and she values building supportive and respectful relationships with all clients and stakeholders.
