Dietetics

What is Dietetics?

Dietitians are allied health professionals who are experts in food and nutrition and provide guidance to people with a range of health conditions to manage their diet and nutrition.  

We are able to support individuals of all ages who present with a broad spectrum of disabilities including anxiety, depression, personality disorders, psychosis, schizophrenia, bi-polar, ASD, ABI, CF, stroke and more.  

To address food and nutrition concerns, dietitians might:

  • Conduct an initial assessment and develop a tailored plan to understand a person’s nutritional health and assess their specific nutritional needs. 
  • Design a tailored nutritional intervention plan to align with a participant’s personal nutrition goals.  
  • Provide tailored nutrition counselling and ongoing care to achieve desired nutrition outcomes. 

Our experienced dietitians are able to provide evidenced-based therapy due to their extensive training and qualifications, wide range of experiences, and our internal professional development program. Dietitians frequently work closely with other allied health professionals to provide complementary services to achieve a participant’s goals.

How are these services funded and accessed?

A range of funding options are available for our dietetic services.

The funding types and NDIS support categories that may covers these services include:

  • Improved Daily Living
  • Early Childhood Intervention
  • My Aged Care
  • Privately paid
  • Lifetime Care (iCare)

Dietetic services can be provided in person or via Telehealth across Australia.

To access these services, complete a referral form and our friendly admin team will match you with a suitable dietitian for your first appointment.  

Frequently asked questions

NDIS support categories that may cover these services include Improved Daily Living. To find out more, head to the National Disability Insurance Scheme website.

We are able to provide services at home, in schools, the workplace, in our offices, at supported accommodation centres and via Telehealth.

If you are based outside of NSW, WA or the ACT, only telehealth services are currently available.

We are able to conduct dietetic assessments and therapy sessions with both NDIS participants and their respective family, carers and support workers.  

We also offer nutrition and food safety training for carers and staff. This can be funded privately or through the NDIS. Food service menu assessment and planning can also be provided for individuals and accommodation sites. Please contact us for further details.
