ORS Supervisor Master Class (Board-endorsed supervisor training)
Evidence-based supervision
Psychologists wishing to maintain their supervisor’s approval are required to refresh their training every five years by completing at least one Board-approved Master Class. A Master Class is a competency-based training workshop requiring at least six hours of direct/live training.
ORS is proud to present its current Master Class offerings as an approved Board-endorsed Master Class training provider.
ORS is an experienced national allied health provider, providing psychological services and psychology supervision across diverse settings, industries, and sectors, including the NDIS, OOHC, Aged Care, Medicare, Private Allied Health, Workplace Rehabilitation and justice and forensic settings. ORS has a psychology workforce of over 200 psychologists, including provisional psychologists, registrars, neuropsychologists, clinical and educational psychologists, and a staff of more than 30 AHPRA supervisors. ORS draws on its wealth of clinical experience and expertise to present Master Classes that address contemporary clinical practice and supervision issues and enable supervisors to readily apply learnings and reflections to enhance their ongoing practice.

Supervisor Master Class (Board-endorsed supervisor training) Evidence-based supervision
Course Outline
This Master Class focuses on:
Evidence-based supervision to assist participants understand and reflect on how they incorporate best practice standards to their role as a supervisor.
It is designed to increase supervisor’s understanding of their responsibilities as a Board-approved supervisor, reflect on their current supervision practices, and ensure that their supervision approach aligns with current research and evidence about best practice approaches.
The Master Class draws on professional experiences working within a large national multi-discipline allied health services provider, where evidence-based (scientist practitioner) models are embedded into all of the learning and development programs across all disciplines. The Master Class provides participants with up-to-date research on best practice supervision within both national and international contexts.
The Master Class is designed to provide participants with theoretical, experiential and practical learnings that can be readily applied to the practice of supervision with psychologists working in diverse settings, sectors and industries. This training invites supervisors to explore their own practice through case study discussions and role plays, and shared understandings of best practice approaches.
We seek to provide participants with an enriching learning experience where supervisors will leave feeling better informed, more reflective about their own practice and equipped with new ideas about how to continue to ensure their supervision is aligned with current evidence for best practice.
This Master Class attracts 6 Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this Master Class, participants will be able to:
- Understand and apply the principles of competency based supervision
- Identify ways to incorporate cultural and social diversity into the supervision context
- Identify the core competencies required for registration as a general psychologist
- Familiarise themselves with the latest research and literature on models of supervision
- Learn how to embed deliberate practice in supervision using a supervision feedback scale
- Reflect on new learnings and how to integrate this into their current supervision approach
- Build their confidence in acting as the gatekeepers to the psychology profession with a focus on ensuring supervisees act ethically and competently to ensure the maintenance of public safety
- Integrate knowledge and practice through experiential learning through group discussions and facilitated role-plays
- Develop networks with other supervisors and colleagues
- Establish competency as a Board approved supervisor through the marked assessment and other systematic assessments throughout the training program

Supervising psychologists working in the disability sector
Course Outline
This Master Class focuses on:
Issues that may arise in supervising provisional psychologists who work in the disability sector, specifically the National Insurance Disability Scheme (NDIS).
It is designed to increase the supervisor’s understanding of their responsibilities as a Board-approved supervisor, highlight considerations required when working in the disability sector, and increase skills in supporting psychological practice with psychologists working with people with disabilities.
The Master Class draws on professional experiences working within a large national disability service provider and supervising provisional psychologists, registrars, and registered psychologists within this setting. The Master Class assists participants in understanding the foundational practices of working with people with disability, including person-centered practice and trauma-informed practice. The practice principles involved in the elimination of restricted practices will also be covered.
The Master Class is underpinned by the guiding ethical principles of psychology, in order to ensure public safety by guiding the ethical practice development in early career psychologists. The Master Class is also experiential, providing multiple opportunities for participants to explore their own practice through case study discussions and role plays. The Master Class parallels how we approach supervision sessions, in that participants will leave feeling better informed, more reflective about their own practice, and with ideas to continue to ensure their supervision is aligned with current evidence for best practice.

- Build their confidence in acting as the gatekeepers to the psychology profession with a focus on ensuring supervisees act ethically and competently to ensure the maintenance of public safety.
- Integrate knowledge and practice through experiential learning through group discussions and facilitated role-plays.
- Develop networks with other supervisors and colleagues.
- Establish competency as a board-approved supervisor through the marked assessment and other systematic assessments throughout the training program.

Supervising psychologists working with high-risk populations
Course Outline
This Master Class focuses on:
Issues that may arise in supervising provisional psychologists or Registrars who work with high-risk client groups such as within correctional or juvenile justice facilities, child protection, schools, NDIS, community mental health, drug and alcohol treatment, domestic violence, and out-of-home care, etc.
It is designed to increase the supervisor’s understanding of their responsibilities as a Board-approved supervisor, highlight considerations required when working with specific at-risk groups, reflect on current supervision practices, and increase competency-based supervision practices for high-risk client groups.
The Master Class is based on trauma-informed practice principles with a focus on managing vicarious trauma, as well as enhancing self-care practices in supervisors and supervisees.
The Master Class is underpinned by the guiding ethical principles of psychology, in order to ensure public safety by guiding the ethical practice development in early career psychologists. The Master Class is also experiential, providing multiple opportunities for participants to explore their own practice through case study discussions and role plays. Master Class Training Terms and Conditions
The following constitute the terms and conditions to which training participants agree when booking any ORS Master Class face-to-face training or online learning courses (“Terms & Conditions”). ORS reserves the right to review and update these Terms & conditions periodically at its discretion. By purchasing a ticket to this course you are accepting this agreement.
1. BOOKING
Face-to-face training and online training courses can be booked via Eventbrite, ORS’ online training booking platform. When you submit a booking for an online course, your submission represents an offer to ORS to book you onto the course you selected. ORS will accept your offer by entering your booking into ORS’ training management system and sending you an email confirming that you have been booked, together with the information and attachments for your upcoming course.
2. PAYMENT
Training fees can be paid at the point of booking via Eventbrite’s secure online payment process. In all cases, payment must be received prior to the start of training. All major credit and debit cards are accepted. A receipt will be sent to you by email from Eventbrite confirming payment. Eventbrite will receive the information needed to verify and authorise your payment card and to process your registration and is under strict legal and contractual obligations not to disclose this information to third parties. Please note that if you do not provide accurate details (including the type of card and number) or if your credit card company does not authorise payment, your registration application will be deemed void. ORS does not accept liability for costs incurred as a result of applications deemed void in this manner.
3. YOUR OBLIGATIONS
You may not allow anyone else to access the online training courses via your login details. You are required to adhere to ORS health and safety rules and regulations, and any other reasonable security requirements that apply at ORS premises where face-to-face training courses are delivered.
4. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
ORS Master Class training is intended to build evidence-based skills and capabilities of Psychologists in their roles as AHPRA Supervisors. The training courses are intended to be a resource to guide the clinical practice and supervision decision-making of participants in the supervisory roles only. It is intended you use ORS training as guidance material only and not as indicators or commitments to a particular course of action, every effort has been made to ensure the information contained is accurate and up to date but ORS does not accept responsibility for anyone acting as a result of information in, or views expressed on, its training courses including course materials. Participants should use their professional judgment when dealing with specific situations.
5. WARRANTY AND DISCLAIMER
ORS ensures that all our Master Class training courses are delivered diligently and underpinned by current evidence-based, significant clinical experience, research, and firsthand supervision examples of practice. ORS ensures that training courses are delivered in a good, timely, and professional manner consistent with industry standards. The Master Class courses will be delivered as described in our Master Class agenda.
ORS will provide experienced and knowledgeable trainers to present the Master Class courses, who are experienced AHPRA Supervisors and working practical knowledge of the training materials they are presenting.
7. OWNERSHIP AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS
All Master Class training material, content, and resources are owned by ORS. All intellectual property rights in all training material available, including the design, graphics, and text of all printed materials and the audio of all online webinars and videos are owned by ORS. No training material may be copied, reproduced, uploaded, posted, displayed, or linked to in any way without ORS’ prior permission. Such use will constitute an infringement of ORS’ intellectual property rights.
To provide a continuous check on the consistency and quality of training delivery, all students will receive a follow-up email at the end of each class asking to submit feedback in the form of a satisfaction survey. This feedback will be reviewed in detail and will be used to make continuous improvements to class content and delivery. ORS reserves the right to use testimonials for promotion and marketing purposes and satisfaction feedback for similar purposes.
8. CANCELLATION AND TRANSFER
8.1. Cancellation by customer.
8.1.If you notify ORS in writing (by email) that you wish to cancel a training course not less than 30 days before the start date of a course, you will be entitled to a 50% refund. Refunds will be processed within 30 days of receiving your request via bank transfer to the original payer. If you withdraw for any reason less than 30 days before the start date of a course, no refund will be issued but you may transfer your place on the course to a substitute. Substitutions should be notified to ORS at least 48 hours prior to the course start date. If you fail to attend the course on which you are booked without giving prior notice to ORS, we are unable to refund the course fees or offer a transfer

8.2. Cancellation by ORS.
ORS reserves the right to cancel any training course due to insufficient enrolment by providing notice to you at least 7 calendar days prior to the scheduled commencement date. In the event of cancellation by ORS, you may elect to receive a full refund of registration fees paid or credit toward future courses.
9. CONFIDENTIALITY
Except as otherwise outlined in these Terms & Conditions, each party may disclose to the other party certain confidential information under these Terms & Conditions. Each party agrees that all code, inventions, know-how, business, technical and financial information or any information specifically designated as confidential or that could be understood to be confidential or proprietary by a reasonable person disclosed to such party (“Receiving Party”) by the disclosing party (“Disclosing Party”) constitute the confidential property of the Disclosing Party (“Confidential Information”). Any ORS technology, any commercial terms (including pricing) of these Terms &Conditions, and any performance information relating to the products shall be deemed Confidential Information of ORS without any marking or further designation.
Except as expressly authorised, the Receiving Party will use reasonable efforts to prevent the disclosure of any Disclosing Party’s Confidential Information for any purpose other than providing the training contemplated by these Terms & Conditions unless authorised by the Disclosing Party. The Receiving Party’s nondisclosure obligation shall not apply to information which the Receiving Party can document: (i) was rightfully in its possession or known to it prior to receipt of the Confidential Information; (ii) is or has become public knowledge through no fault of the Receiving Party; (iii) is rightfully obtained by the Receiving Party from a third party without breach of any confidentiality obligation; or (iv) is independently developed by employees of the Receiving Party who had no access to such information. The Receiving Party may also disclose Confidential Information if so required pursuant to a regulation, law, or court order (but only to the minimum extent required to comply with such regulation or order and with advance notice to the Disclosing Party).
