About Me
Ciara completed her bachelors of science degree in Speech and Language Therapy in University College Cork, in the Republic of Ireland in 2020. Ciara gained valuable practice experience across a range of both paediatic and adult caseloads during this time. Once graduated, Ciara volunteered with Down Syndrome Ireland, working with social communiction groups for teenagers with Down Syndrome. Ciara then progressed to working in an adult acute setting in a variety of hospitals. Ciara has gained valuable experience across a range of caseloads during these rotational posts, particularly in the areas of aged care, stroke rehabilitation, dementia care, parkinsons disease and radiation oncology. Prior to moving to Sydney, Ciara's career had a specific focus in dysphagia assessments and treatment in both acute and community settings. Ciara is motivated and passionate about improving the lives of both the client and their families, to instill independence and quality to their daily life. Ciara is passionate about establsihing person-centred goals, based on each individuals, needs, wishes and their environment. Outside of speech pathology, Ciara has great passion for volunteer work. Ciara has previously travelled to 3rd world countries, such as India and Sri Lanka, to aid and assist in underprivildged schools, orphanages and hospitals.
