About Me
Erin is a Specialist Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner (Children and Young People) and has been leading the team in NSW since 2023. extensive experience in working within this demographic across both educational and therapeutic settings. Erin has over 10 years of experience working with children across various clinical and academic settings, including Early Childhood Education. Erin has a passion for working with children who have experienced complex trauma, reside in out-of-home care, and have experienced family violence or are working through childhood trauma. She thrives in supporting individuals who have experienced trauma, in particular family violence, focusing on ensuring that everyone in a child's system understands what benevolent childhood experiences are and ensures these are prioritised throughout development. Erin is passionate about training individuals' support networks on how to understand each individual best, communicate effectively with them, and provide the best support. Erin has a particular interest in principles of play therapy, believing that through the use of play we can instil a love of lifelong learning while improving memory and overall quality of life. Erin is a strong advocate for her clients and is passionate about ensuring that all individuals, regardless of ability, have their voices heard and are provided with sound foundational skills to help them succeed. Erin enjoys research and teaching and is a co-author of a published journal article that supported the development of the norming Australian English Language tool, which is now used nationally. Erin is also involved in student placements within DCJ, providing education on the benefits of Positive Behaviour Support and how to apply social work and psychology theory in practice. Erin regularly advocates for children with disabilities and is an active participant in early childhood education, supporting educators in continued understanding, inclusion, and strategies to promote emotional literacy and regulation.
