About Me
Katherine has over 7 years of experience in the disability sector, working as a disability case manager, site manager, and community support worker. She has worked with people across the lifespan from various cultural and linguistic backgrounds, including adolescents and Aboriginal Australians. In these roles, Katherine supported her clients to manage and improve a range of complex social, physical, and mental health concerns, including traumatic brain injuries, epilepsy, psychosis, mood and anxiety disorders, addiction difficulties, and trauma-related disorders. She is also experienced in supporting people with neurodevelopmental disorders such as intellectual and learning disabilities, and autism spectrum disorder. Katherine enjoys working collaboratively with her clients so that she can learn their unique perspectives and life stories, and tailor holistic assessments with a person-centred and strengths-based approach. Her goal is to support the development of inclusive communities and to empower her clients to achieve their goals and live rich fulfilling lives. Katherine's bachelor thesis involved the evaluation of Australian attitudes towards early dementia screening and her findings will be presented at the annual Australasian Society for the Study of Brain Impairment conference in 2023, which she hopes may increase early dementia screening rates and improve overall quality of life.
