About Me
Kim has been engaged in disability advocacy, in particular autism advocacy, for decades. Her professional life has involved her working in a variety of educational settings where she has led teams by coordinating and delivering initiatives and explicit programs which focus on inclusive education. Over the years, Kim has led and facilitated the development and implementation of inclusive plans through evidence-based teaching strategies designed to measure areas associated with access, support, policy and pedagogy; to enhance the social, communicative and wellbeing of individuals with support needs. She is an expert in sensory and behavioural analysis and implementing universal design for learning principles which supports an authentic person-centred approach to learning. Kim is currently completing a PhD in Education/Autism research. Over the past three years, she has been investigating the educational and environmental impacts affecting the schooling outcomes of neurodiverse individuals. The study has explored (through the voices of autistic individuals and autistic advocates) the possible enablers and barriers experienced when transitioning beyond the classroom.
