Nelissa has a bachelor’s in psychology and counselling. Nelissa has worked with individuals from a range of different backgrounds and across a lifespan. Nelissa has supported children and adolescents on the Autism Spectrum in social programs that were tailored to their interests with the goal of enhancing their social skills and emotional regulation. Nelissa is passionate about evidence-based and strengths-based approaches to supporting individuals. Nelissa particularly enjoyed providing support to adults in a variety of settings, including community, in-home, and hospital settings. Outside of work, Nelissa has volunteered with organisations that provide fun activities, such as camps and excursions, for children who have been diagnosed with cancer. After supporting children facing cancer diagnoses, Nelissa volunteered as an emotional support person, offering social and emotional support to adults receiving treatments at hospitals. Nelissa enjoys drawing, colouring in and watching films in her free time.
